Gwen and I watched Bert and Ernie on the computer yesterday. I think she enjoyed Ernie singing the rubber duckie song.

Lobster Hands

I was trying to video tape Gwen while she was smiling, but once I got the camera going she decided to take care of some business. I guess she wasn't smiling at me, but rather.... she was in the process of making herself feel a bit better! The video also shows evidence of her scratching her face. Now she has become our little lobster.

Yucky Shots

Yesterday Jayson and I were mean parents. It was time for Gwen's 2 months shots. That was the hardest thing for a parent to watch their child in pain and you somewhat caused it. To see the tears coming down her face... it was horrible. But she came home with some really cool bandaids on her little thighs. I am not looking forward to her 4 month shots now.

Gwen's accomplishments so far...

Gwen is growing up so fast! She's already wearing 3 month outfits. Yesterday she actually rolled over for the first time and of course the camera was where? I have absolutely no clue with all the mess around. She is starting to smile a lot and is more alert. I absolutely love it when she looks at you with amazement or is it really that or something else. I wonder if she is thinking wow mom you need to fix your hair or make-up you look really bad in the morning! Either way I love it! Lately when we give her kisses, she has started to give her version back.. with her tongue sticking out. It's pretty cute and wet! She's also been holding her bottle at times, standing up with some help, and the biggest one is holding her head up. I can't believe she will be 2 months old next week. My baby is growing up so fast.


Magnum is a big help... okay kind of. He loves to keep and eye on her while I get her bath tub ready at night. He just sits and stares at her. When she starts to cry he tries to help by giving her too many kisses. When Jayson or I are feeding Gwen, Magnum is right there to help in any way he can. The one thing he loves to do with her is show her around his new neighborhood.

We're Here!

We have arrived and I am exhausted! Jayson arrived home from Korea on the 29th of Jan. We enjoyed our last week in Southern California with family and friends, and then off to Las Vegas. Yes, for those of you who didn’t know our next assignment is now at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. Jayson will be an instructor at the weapons school for the next 2-3 years. As for me, I have still not decided if I am going to go back and teach right away. I’m not too thrilled with the district, so if I do go back to teach I will probably try teaching at a private school or preschool. We’ll see!
We’ve received 2 out of 3 shipments so far. The first went great! It never left the truck it was picked up on. (That was the one from Ca) Now, for the 2nd shipment (the one with 90% of our belongings… )well let’s just say Jayson and I were not too happy with it. It started with the driver not calling us to tell us the shipment was coming. We wanted to try to avoid it going back into storage again. Well…. It ended up back in storage. We just received the shipment yesterday, so lucky for us our neighbors (friends of ours) allowed us to borrow their air mattress until it arrived. Now for the good stuff… I’m curious as to why movers decide to take your furniture apart after they have put it on the truck as a whole piece??? Hmmmm… and now the pieces are missing and several pieces of my furniture have been damaged!!! UGH!! The biggest kicker… who thought to put a BBQ on top of a coffee table? Nice right!! And lastly, Jayson thought it would be good to have them unpack the boxes inside the house. Umm… not so good! I have my teaching things everywhere!!! From crayons out of their boxes, to my teaching files scattered everywhere on the floor, and games with missing pieces, oh and so much more!
Okay now that I have that off my chest… the house is beautiful! Yes, I did just see if for the first time when we arrived! I took my realtor’s and good friend Nikki’s opinion and bought this house sight unseen. The house is in a gated community in North Las Vegas. It is in a really nice area, which I am happy about.
As for moving with an infant… I give props to those with more than one kid. How do you manage to get anything done? Gwen is doing great, but thanks to grandma and grandpa she wants to be held all the time. As for magnum, well he’s adjusting slowly to his new home. He seems to be unsettled at times. He doesn’t have any other dogs to play with like before, and his surroundings are very different. Let’s just say he’s been attached to my hip like Gwen.

I will hopefully get some pictures of the new house and Gwen on here soon. I'm still REPACKING my teaching things.

Signing off for now!

Well the day has arrived! I have to sign off the blog for now. We are packiing up the computer today, the movers come tomorrow, and we are on the road on Sat. It's a bitter sweet leaving my parents home, but I am excited to see our house on Sunday. I'm not sure how thrilled I am to be moving with an infant, but someone has to do it. At least we aren't move across country or around the world for that matter. Keep posted for our hopefully uneventful trip to Las Vegas.

Boppy Time

I've had to try multiple things to calm Gwen down in order to take a shower. Boppy time last maybe 5 min, then it was off to something else.

Surprise!

This week was a start to one crazy week and it's not done yet! After Gwen and I had our doctor's appointments on Monday, Jayson surprised me with a night out. We went down to San Diego and stayed at the Hyatt overlooking the bay. It was the most beautiful sight. The 25th floor was the way to go. When we got to the room he had a dozen roses sent up for me. We went over to the Midway Naval Ship and took a tour of that. Then we went to dinner. No baby, no dog, piece and quiet. That was nice!
The surprises didn't end there. The next day he scheduled a couples massage at 10am. Now I sure needed that one! After that we were off to get some lunch and pick up Gwen's birth certificate. Then I had to get home. I missed her too much!
