what an adventure

Last Saturday I took the plunge and drove 11 hours with a 5 month old who cut her first tooth!! Yes, her first tooth! So needless to say, I was exhausted by the time we got to Wyoming. Luckily, I had my parents and grandma in the car behind me to help when I needed them. Not only were we dealing with Gwen, but we had 3 dogs and crazy thunderstorms to drive through. While in Utah a lightning bolt struck so close to the car my heart skipped a beat. Let's just say it was one crazy day.

On Sunday we drove from Wyoming to South Dakota. It was a much better day for Gwen and for me!! This is the best time of year to drive out here. It's really God's country. Everything is so green and beautiful! Very different from the desert landscape that I have been living in the past few months.

We've been here for a week already and enjoying every minute of it. Grandma bought Gwen a new jumperoo for up here and a pink inflatable duck to take her bath in. She absolutely loves both of them. Pictures to come when I figure this computer out.

Jayson gets here later this week. We are looking forward to him coming out and being tourists for a few days.

Other than that, we are enjoying summer weather in the mid 70's and not the 100's. Love it!!

Sit up on her own!! I still have to stay close by for the occasional downfall, but for the most part she's got it down. Hurray for Gwen!

what a week!

This week has been one challenging week for Gwen and I. On Wednesday, after a great afternoon with a good friend of ours, I got Gwen out of the car and within seconds had throw up everywhere. Poor thing, it even came out her nose. So, we were off to the bathtub to clean up, but that clean up didn't last for very long. We had 3 more outfits on after that. Being a first time mommy this was horrific! I couldn't keep anything down her, not even water! She had been running a fever and so much more. Luckily, Jayson was able to come home earlier than expected to help me. This was great because as soon as he got home... yes... I was throwing up! Ugh!! Poor guy! He had to deal with both of us! Wednesday came and went and Thursday was pj day all day for Gwen and I. I have never seen a 5 month old stay in one spot all day without moving. She was enjoying mommy and daddy's bed and watching the backyardigans and so much more! Mommy needed the rest too! After we got over the flu bug, Gwen starting having a really bad cough. Yes, now we are dealing with something completely different. My poor baby is just exhausted from all of this. To wrap this blog entry up... we'd like to thank whom ever it was that graciously gave us their germs. You can have them back now.

The wonderful stage of teething

Yesterday Gwen had a doctors appointment for her ears. She's been grabbing at them a lot lately so I thought she may have an ear infection, but thank goodness she does not. Apparently her grabbing at her ear is because of her teething. Whew! I was relieved. I sure don't want her having the same ear troubles I had at her age. Not fun at all. Here are a couple pictures of her today. She's not having the best day today either. I think she has come down with a little flu bug. Anyways, her current weight is 14 lbs 13 ounces.
