Our backyard is done!

Jayson and I have finally tackled the backyard! Okay, we hired someone to tackle the backyard. Our first indication that we needed help with the landscaping was when we were told by someone that we planted indoor plants outside and that's why they were dying. Just thinking about it makes me laugh! So, we decided instead of us screwing up the backyard more we were going to get someone to take our backyard from blah to beautiful. And he did! Magnum loves it too! He's been outside everyday so far. He's been laying in the grass enjoying the sun before it gets too hot!

4 month checkup

Today was the day. Miss Gwen had her 4 month checkup and yes... we had the dreadful shots minus one that we have to go back and get next week if they get the vaccine in.

She currently weighs 13lbs 2oz, she is 24.2 inches in length, and her head circumference is 42.5. She is in the 50th percentile for her height and weight, but her head, well... she's in the 75th percentile (thank you daddy!)

These pictures tell it all. She was extremely tired. We actually had to wake her up in order to go to the doctors. Our baby loves to sleep! And we love it too!!

Our little Gwen just turned 4 months old today! Where does the time go?

The other day I came downstairs and found Jayson and Magnum passed out on the couch together. Yes, Magnum is allowed on the couch. He is a very special dog that's why!

Gwen is such the little helper. She loves to sit in her chair on the counter and watch Jayson and I cook. She seems to be very entertained. Here are some pictures of Gwen watching Jayson make salsa last night.

It's Pool Time!

I can't believe the weather is already in the 90's. I guess it's suppose to be cooling down by this weekend. I'm not ready for the hot weather, and I am especially not ready for our soon to be expensive electric bill. ugh!!
Jayson is flying nights the next couple of nights, so Gwen and I got to enjoy his company for a few hours this morning. We decided to take Gwen to the pool for the first time. She looked so darn cute in her pool outfit. She had the cutest strawberry swimsuit on, with a bathing suit cover up, a hat, and some fancy shoes! The only thing we were missing were some sunglasses.
She doesn't seem to mind being in water, but when it's not heated she's not thrilled at all! We got her feet in and that was it, so we headed over to the spa instead. It wasn't too hot, so we tried out our new swim boat thingy and splashed around with daddy for a bit.

Lunch with Daddy!

This week Gwen and I went and had lunch with Jayson twice! We had lunch on Monday and today. Now that is something to talk about. Jayson's schedule is not fun sometimes. This week especially! When Jayson leaves for work...Gwen is just getting up. When he gets home from work...Gwen is already asleep. So she never really gets to see her daddy until the weekend. To be able to have lunch with him twice in one week... well, there's something to talk about! Here are some quick pictures from today's time with daddy.

Every morning when Jayson and I go and get Gwen we are greeted with this.... She just melts our hearts! We love her soooo much!

Easter 2009

We had a great Easter weekend. We started the weekend off with me selling things at a garage sale, then we headed for the park to have an Easter picnic with Jayson's squadron, from there we came home because it was soooo cold that day and took a nap. Once Miss Gwen woke up we were off to church. Yes, we went to Easter service the night before. Our church is very large and we figured it wouldn't be as crowded. Boy were we wrong! It was a great service otherwise. On Sunday we slept in. Well, we brought Gwen into bed with us at 6:30 and we all went back to sleep for another hour or so, so that is sleeping in to us! Then we went over to our friends house for an Easter brunch and ate some yummy food! Afer that we went to the outlets to spend a giftcard that was burniing a hole in my pocket. We came home and ended our weekend with a nice Easter meal that Jayson made for us. It was fantastic!

3 1/2 months old

Whew! Where does the time go? The past 2 weeks, Gwen has changed so much. She is becoming one little chunky monkey... we just love kissing on those cheeks of hers! She has started to get really interested in her toys. Her floor gym is her new favorite thing. I just love watching her reach out and grab a toy and have so much excitement over it. We've been getting her used to her exersaucer and jumperoo as well. I'm not too sure if she really likes the jumperoo just yet, but her exersaucer she is loving (if you press the buttons for her!) Her little arms are too short to reach the buttons. I don't think it helps that we have to put a blanket around her in order for her to stay steady in those big girl toys. She's just so little and petite. As for her smiling, its now joined with laughing and talking. Every morning Jayson and I just love to go and get her. To start your day off with you child excited to see you and have smiles from ear to ear...well, what could be better than that? Here are some pictures of our growing little girl. Enjoy!

cheerleading anyone?

On Saturday I got to have a mommy morning out. My girlfriend and her daughter were in town for her daughter's cheerleading competition, so I decided to go and check it out. Oh my goodness was it something to see. I had no clue it was just like the cheerleading competitions that you see on tv. It was actually a lot of fun to watch. Aly is on the mini squad (she's only 6 years old). The divisions range from 1 to 6 with 6 being extremely good: ie throwing people in the air across the gym floor and so forth. I only stayed until division 2 and even those cheer squads were good. As I was sitting, I was wondering what our little Gwen is going to want to do. Be a cheerleader, dancer, gymnast... or ride dirt bikes, play baseball, football, or who knows what. Any way she goes its going to be one expensive hobby. My girlfriend says its about $2400 a year for her daughter to compete with this particular cheer leading squad. I couldn't believe it! I can only imagine what the cost of it will be when Gwen gets to be the age to join. Here are some pictures and a video of the mini squad and their performance.

be afraid... be very afraid

The other night Jayson and I got the scare of a lifetime and I mean a scare of a lifetime. We went to bed about 9:30pm. At approximately 10:20pm our security alarm went off. I haven't heard a noise like that in a really long time, especially joined with red flashing lights. Within seconds Jayson and I were out of bed. I had no clue what to do, so I waited for Jayson and Magnum before I went down the hallway to go and get Gwen. Jayson got out of bed, grabbed the gun from the closet, and was off downstairs in his underwear with Magnum close behind him. I went into Gwen's room until Jayson said it was okay to come out. After checking all the windows and doors Jayson came back to bed. Both of us we shaking within. I think we both slept with one eye open the entire night. Every little noise would wake us up.

After the fact we've been having a good laugh about it. Now you may be wondering why we've been laughing? As we reflected back on the event Jayson was pretty hysterical. When the alarm went off he threw the sheets off the bed while saying a few words I won't repeat. As he got to the side of the bed I looked over towards him and noticed him in a football stance yelling at the top of his lungs some other words I won't repeat. He then proceeded to get his gun from the closet. While Jayson was doing all of this, I was standing there looking like a fool. I had now clue what to do. I completely forgot to take my cell phone and the land line with me when I went to go and get Gwen.

Even though this was the biggest scare of our lives it was a blessing in disguise. Jayson and I sat in bed after the whole event and talk about exactly what it was that each of us were suppose to do and what we are going to do when the alarm goes off again.

We have no clue as to why the alarm went off. If it was someone, the alarm must have scared the crud out of them that they ran off, but we think it was the wind that blew the french door in just enough to set the alarm off. Hmmm... can I say I hate the desert, not fond of Las Vegas, and truly hate the wind that comes with living here!!! Thank goodness Jayson was home and not deployed. I don't know what I would've done by myself. I think scream, cry, and pee my pants!
